Sensation and Perception Assignment Sheet


Sensation and Perception: Point to remember-We feel, see hear, taste, and smell with our BRAIN, which can sense even without functioning senses.



This unit will be answering the following questions:
What are sensation and perception? What do we mean by bottom-up processing and top-down processing?
What are the absolute and difference thresholds, and do stimuli below the absolute threshold have any influence?
What is the function of sensory adaptation?
What is the energy that we see as visual light?
What are the characteristics of air pressure waves that we hear as sound?
How do the eye and ear transform light and sound energy into neural messages?
How do we experience each of the body’s senses?
How do Gestalt psychologists understand perceptual organization?
How adaptable is our ability to perceive?

Activity: Technical writing with Heather Manchester. Today we will be looking a technical writing in regard to answering the Free-Response Questions on the AP Psychology exam. Heather will be showing you previously released AP questions to show you how they are scored and how to maximize your points on the exam.

Summative Assessment: You will be receiving a FRQ that you will be answering for a take home assessment. This will be completed outside of class and due on Tuesday November 7th.


Section I

Multiple Choice — 100 Questions | 1 Hour, 10 Minutes | 66.6% of Exam Score
  • Define and explain content from a range of course topics
  • Apply skills of comparison and interpretation to course concepts, theories, and scientific methods

Section II

Free Response — 2 Questions | 50 Minutes | 33.3% of Exam Score
Topics/themes addressed by these questions may include (but are not limited to) the following:
  • Analyze a unique scenario using concepts from different theoretical frameworks or subdomains in the field
  • Design, analyze, or critique a research study
