Circle: A neural pathway you would like to change?
Unit 3: The Brain-Everything Psychological is simultaneously Biological
Learning Targets:
How do nerve cells communicate with other nerve cells?
How do neurotransmitters influence behavior, and how do drugs and other chemicals affect neurotransmission?
What are the functions of the nervous system’s main divisions?
How does the endocrine system – the body’s slower information system – transmit its messages?
How do neuroscientists study the brain’s connections to behavior and mind?
What are the functions of important lower-level brain structures?
What functions are served by the various cerebral cortex regions? What do split brains reveal about the functions of our two brain hemispheres?
Activity: Cross hands and confuse brain
Mind Body Connection Activity: We know that everything psychological is simultaneously biological. What implications can you draw about the brain and its structure from the following three examples: In groups of three what are some of the implications of the following information?

Summative: Due Monday- Draw a neuron. You will draw a neuron in your notes. Each part should be labeled along with what it does. Additionally, you will explain how it works based on a "thought" and what would happen if it activates a firing and again if it doesn't. I will explain this in class. This will be entered for a SUMMATIVE.
Homework: SQ3R Pages 91-96 due for Monday. You will also want to start making note cards for the next unit test. Vocabulary words appear on the side of the text in light pink. You should make note cards for each one and on the back where you write the definition you should also self-reference in you definition, meaning how it applies to you. You should be doing this for all the assignments.
